How residents feel about Heritage Day.

THE RECORD ventured into the streets and asked residents what Heritage Day means to them and how they feel about it. Everyone was excited to share their opinions, which were all positive.

ANIKA BOSCH: “I believe Heritage Day should be every day so that we can all learn to support each other. I celebrate my roots and everyone should, too. It helps us realise who and what we are.”
ELSI RADEMEYER: “Firstly, I am very grateful for Heritage Day, not only because it’s a public holiday, but also because it reminds us where our roots lie. It’s a day we should all celebrate and, of course, enjoy a lekker braai!”
SONMARI ERASMUS: “Heritage Day is the one day we can all spend time with our families and friends and contemplate our origin and culture. It’s a day where we must learn about other cultures and the importance of tolerance.”
SUSIE DU PLOOY: “Heritage, whether it’s cultural, traditional or spiritual, is very precious to me and I greatly cherish it. I celebrate it only in a positive way and make sure to respect all other cultures and heritages.”
