The Leaf which stands for leading environmentally-friendly affordable family car, will always hold a special place within the South African automotive landscape. It was the first all-electric mass produced vehicle to become commercially available in South Africa. On the most endearing attribute about the Leaf is that it provides a very conventional driving experience, with smooth power delivery while also offering a practical interior with space for passenger and luggage.

The emissions-free Leaf makes use of an 80kW/254Nm electric motor with power provided by a 24 kWh lithium ion battery pack which is said to provide 195 of driving range. The all-electric car contingent would appear to have gained some traction as manufacturers Nissan and BMW investing in electric vehicle charging infrastructure around South Africa, making owning a Leaf a bit more enticing.
