Look Forward’s AGM outlines key issues

The Look Forward Child Centre will fundraise while it awaits a response from the government regarding funding.

The Look Forward Creativity Centre and Child Haven held its AGM on September 25 in South Hills.

Department of Social Development (DSD) representative Cynthia Mucicinyane gave a speech. She spoke about maintaining the centre’s high standards because her inspection found it operates well despite an extreme lack of funding from the government.

“Look Forward meets all requirements outlined by the DSD, and the challenge will be maintaining the high standards set by the centre. The lack of funding is out of my hands now because my superiors must allocate the funds,” said Mucicinyane.

“I hope that funds from homes that closed down will be allocated here,” she continued.

Grievances regarding funding and the need for fundraisers at the home were a part of Ward 57 Clr Faeeza Chames’ speech.

“Funding is key to maintaining this beautiful home. Until we get help from the government, we will have to find other means to raise money,” said Chame.

“We can do fundraisers of all forms, and I will do my best to get business sponsorships,” she continued.

Lucie Ndjeka was introduced as the new CEO of the centre. She hopes to usher it into a new era of leadership.

A gift from the centre is given to Mucicinyane as a thank-you for her support.

The stakeholders at the centre were glad to see the progress and get a detailed mandate of what the centre would seek to implement to continue improving to provide the best care for the children.
