Atiya Jodgee and Simphiwe Maseko from Glenvista High recently shone in the Economic and Management Sciences Cluster Olympiad.

Two learners of Glenvista High School excelled in the Economic and Management Sciences (EMS) Cluster competition and will represent their school at the district competition.

The first phase of the competition took place at Rand Girls High on August 13 with the schools competing under two categories – public and private schools.

Glenvista High was represented by six learners from grades eight and nine.

Grade Eight learners Atiya Jodgee and Simphiwe Maseko in Grade Nine took the first position.

Atiya Jodgee (Grade Eight) and Simphiwe Maseko (Grade Nine) excelled in the Economic and Management Sciences (EMS) Cluster competition and will represent their school at the district competition.

The duo will be representing the school in the district-level competition on August 24 at Glenvista High.

“The whole of Grade Eight and Grade Nine learners first had to write a practical test from the department. We then chose the best three in each grade to compete in the cluster competition. Learners were evaluated with an EMS test which was set for an hour and the learners didn’t disappoint,” said Deonay Balie, the EMS teacher.

“This was a great opportunity for our learners as we try to push them for academic excellence.”
