WATCH: La Rochelle church tackles social ills through prayer

Members of La Rochelle Seventh Day Adventist Church took to the streets to host a community prayer outreach programme over the weekend.

La Rochelle Seventh Day Adventist Church led a community prayer outreach programme on August 17.

Under the leadership of pastor Jonathan Nyathi, the congregation invited community members to join in on the march, culminating in a prayer session at Boland Park.

The event brought together community leaders and residents alike to reflect on the state of society and seek divine guidance and wisdom.

The programme was part of the church’s many community outreach programmes outlined for the year. In March this year, they also had a community clean-up project, where they cleaned up the streets of La Rochelle.

Elder at the church, President Manyathela, said: “We realised that a lot of people don’t know that there’s a Seventh Day Adventist Church here and through this event, we wanted to let people know that everyone is invited to join us.”

He said it was important that they prayed for the community and asked for God’s intervention to combat social ills.

“Our members were well represented in different uniforms, from the junior youth, senior youth, and the ladies group and they were also joined by general members of the church. Our message to the community is that we are here for the community and are praying for them,” Manyathela said.
