Stories from the Old Calabash to entertain

Stories from the Old Calabash draws its inspiration from African storytelling, with magical and grand stories of wondrous events that have been passed on from generation to generation.

Peoples Theatre is delighted to announce its third production of the year, Stories from the Old Calabash.

This is a play with a strong focus on the richness of African storytelling.

School tour dates are from September 10 to 13 with normal theatre dates running from September 17 to 29.

Stories from the Old Calabash draw their inspiration from African storytelling, with magical and grand stories of wondrous events that have been passed on from generation to generation.

This production is a collection of indigenous folk tales from across the continent to inspire, entertain and educate.

This interactive specifically curated production will tell tales of people from all races, colours and creeds while also promoting literacy in both young and old.

Showtimes for schools are Tuesday to Friday at 09:00 and 11:00. Showtimes for the public are 10:30 and 14:30 on weekends and school holidays.

Ticket prices are R165 per person for members of the public, R130 if you are a member of the Peoples Theatre Kids Club, R140 for the public that are accompanying members and for school or group rates, please contact the theatre directly.
