Church seeks to rebuild following fire at Rietvlei

Gathering Community Church seeks assistance in rebuilding their premises after fire.

The Gathering Community Church at Rietvlei Zoo Farm recently burned down. Nothing is left of the church structure and help is needed to restore the premises.

The fire has left the congregation without a place to conduct prayer services or recreational activities that were enjoyed and cherished by all involved.

During the blaze, several lapas and other business premises in the surrounding area in Rietvlei, including the church building, burnt down. The church members were devastated but nevertheless looked faithfully to the future.

The pastor at Community Gathering Church, Yorick Broom showed great courage in the face of disaster.

“As a church, we will be better than before, God turns even the worst situations into something great,” Yorick said.

The church is currently utilising the Butterfly Hall at Rietvlei for its Sunday services. “We have continued almost without a hitch. Rietvlei has been gracious enough to let us use their hall, so we can still meet on Sundays,” he continued.

Local churches and individuals have contributed finances and equipment to help the church get back on track but rebuilding will take a lot more.

“If anyone wants to help us in a meaningful way, it would be with a financial donation as this would enable us to allocate the funds to the most needed area at the time. We have no place to store or keep anything else at the moment,” the pastor said.

For those interested in assisting, contact Broom on 082 852 2903.
