Nkosi’s Haven receives special visit from Ward 54 Civacts team

The Civacts team reminds us how small acts of kindness can contribute to positive change and support those in need.

Every year on July 18, we celebrate Mandela Day in South Africa.

This day reminds us of Nelson Mandela’s dedication to human rights, social justice and his commitment to a South Africa where everyone is free and equal.

The Ward 54 Civacts team, visited Nkosi’s Haven, a local NGO that provides care and support for mothers and children affected by HIV/Aids. The team donated blankets, bags, books, and toiletries.

During the handover, they also learned about the hardships and struggle the children and mothers face, highlighting the importance of community support.

Community facilitator Dawood Raphalalane said: “More than just a birthday celebration, Mandela Day is a call to action. People are encouraged to volunteer and spend 67 minutes making a positive impact in their communities, representing the 67 years Mandela fought for justice.”
