JOY Dogs put on a display at David House

JOY Dogs visit local children's home.

JOY dogs went to David House Children’s home in Townsview, on July 19.

The purpose of the visit was to allow the children at the home to interact with the dogs and have a fun experience, learning about the English Sheep dogs that featured in the Dulux paint adverts.

David House opened in 2007 and was established for the purpose of providing a home-like environment filled with love and nurture for vulnerable children and the elderly.

The children were also involved in the dogs’ performance.

The JOY dogs together with their owner Sue Green visit schools, care facilities, children’s and old age homes to spread some joy via her dogs that are friendly and full of tricks. Sue and her dogs entertained the residents of David House by performing tricks and giving a history of the dogs that have been seen on television.

“I want to spread joy via my dogs and seeing how people react to the dogs, which is always a happy reaction definitely allows me to do that. I’ve been to David house before and I was happy to visit again. We had lots of fun,” Sue said.

A dog tunnel was formed with some help from the children.

Visions of Joy project manager and representative of David House, Rabiya Mohammed explained why the JOY Dogs were well received at the home.

“Visions of Joy are dedicated to bringing basic necessities to vulnerable children in disadvantaged communities. We have many kids that we care for at David House, so bringing the dogs here was a great idea. The dogs interacting with the kids was so good for them to feel that warmth and to see them put on a display of tricks really captivated both the kids and seniors,” Rabiya said.
