Help dance star get to Macedonia

Clarishca Viljoen needs your help to raise R45 000 to go to Macedonia for the International Dance Organisation (IDO) World Championships.

Clarishca Viljoen (22) earned an incredible opportunity to represent SA at the International Dance Organization (IDO) World Championships in North Macedonia.

Viljoen will fly to Macedonia in October, but travelling overseas for this event comes with significant costs.

“I’m reaching out to you today to humbly request your support in making this dream a reality.”

Representing SA abroad is no shock to Viljoen because she went to Australia last year to represent SA on the world stage.

Clarishca Viljoen received certificates for being number one in popping solo, hip hop duo, popping duo, formation, and small group at nationals held at the Woodlands International College, Boksburg.

Viljoen started dancing at the age of two and never looked back.

“Dancing has been the one thing I have always wanted to do and pursue.”

She is now a dancer, teacher, trainer, and choreographer at Dance Studios in Glenvista. Viljoen earned her dance teaching qualification from the South African Body of Dance.

She has proved to be a rising star in the dance industry, and her work is proof of that because she has a group of senior students who will compete in Macedonia in October.

Viljoen obtained her provincial colours in 2021 and her national colours in dance in 2022.

Viljoen said, “Receiving my provincial colours was the first big step in my career. This was the first year I had an opportunity to compete in the nationals.”

Clarishca Viljoen attends the formal provincial colours ceremony at the Royal Johannesburg and Kensington Golf Club.

Her passion and determination have allowed her to rub shoulders with several SA and international stars, who had her perform as part of the dancers in their music videos. This includes Lady Zamar, Heavy-K, Ricky Ricky, Vocalistic, Zuchu, Toofan, DanZak and Simon.

Viljoen mentioned how being a dancer in SA is because they get no government funding.

“I must always ensure that my body and mental state are fit enough. It’s a lot, and the sad part is that we don’t have any funding.”

Your donations, big or small, would make all the difference in ensuring Viljoen doesn’t miss this opportunity.

“Your donations would get me one step closer to achieving my lifelong dream to showcase SA talent on the international stage and share the beauty of our nation with the world,” said Viljoen.
