Champagnat Day celebrated with festivities

Saint Marcellin Champagnat had a passion for education which was displayed among the school learners and staff at the celebration.

The Marist Brothers Linmeyer community celebrated Champagnat Day with a special mass in L’Hermitage Hall, a departure from the usual venue in the High School quad.

This change added an extra layer of significance to the event as the community honoured the remarkable life and work of St Marcellin Champagnat, the founder of Marist schools worldwide.

The school’s marketing manager, Tracy Ewards highlighted: “The celebration began with a mass presided over by our Chaplain, Fr Tshepo Duik, along with priests from neighbouring parishes.

“Following the mass, our high school learners participated in an alumni soccer and netball match.”

These games provided a wonderful opportunity to strengthen the bonds within the extended Marist family, showcasing the lasting connections that continue even after learners have matriculated.

“The pre-school and primary school learners enjoyed a morning filled with fun games and picnics. These activities allowed the younger members of the community to bond and learn about the importance of the school’s history in an engaging and enjoyable way.

“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the entire Marist Brothers Linmeyer community for joining us in this celebration. Your participation and support made Champagnat Day a memorable and meaningful event,” said Edwards.
