The Chidiya Foundation for underprivileged and disabled children needs your help

The Chidiya Foundation educates both disabled and underprivileged children and aids in their early childhood development.

The Chidiya Foundation is an early childhood development centre for underprivileged and disabled children.
They have 30 children that they care for and educate.

The foundation strives for quality education and to foster an inclusive community where abled and disabled children can interact with each other devoid of discrimination.

The Chidiya Foundation relies solely on donations from businesses and individuals.

Stephanie Sokane and co-founder Kamogelo Mthoke reside in Suideroord, although the centre is located in Orange Farm. They travel to Orange Farm and, on some days they remain in the south of Johannesburg to get donations.

“I love children. I studied ECD 4 and 5 and then started volunteering. We started in Orange Farm as there was a need for this type of institution,” said Stephanie.

“The community has many children needing special attention and a proper education, so I chose to do whatever I can to help. We have trained ECD teachers and volunteers who teach the children. We provide lunch and a snack for the children every day and also have special classes for children with disabilities.

“We need more donations and the land, belonging to the government, we use for the centre cannot be registered as we do not own it,” she continued.

The Chidiya Foundation needs assistance maintaining and growing its foundation to help more children receive the future they deserve.
