Marist Brothers Linmeyer top fundraising school in SA’s 2023 Wear It Wild campaign

The assembly was a moment of pride and celebration for the school community.

Marist Brothers Linmeyer received the honour of being the top fundraising school in South Africa for the 2023 Wear It Wild Campaign, organised by WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature) South Africa.

The campaign, aimed at raising awareness and funds for wildlife conservation, had enthusiastic participation from the school’s primary learners on October 6, 2023.

On this special day, these learners dressed up as various animals selected by their class teachers, creating a vibrant and lively atmosphere. The costumes were not just for fun; they symbolised the school’s commitment to conservation.

All donations collected from the event were to support WWF South Africa in its ongoing efforts to protect the country’s natural heritage.

The Wear It Wild campaign encourages individuals and groups across South Africa to stand out from the herd by dressing up as a specific animal for a day.

Marist Brothers Linmeyer embraced this initiative wholeheartedly, which led to their recognition as the leading fundraising school for this cause.

During the primary school assembly on June 7, a WWF representative, Avuyile Maselwa, presented a certificate to the primary school deputy principal, Hylton Powell, commemorating the school’s outstanding contribution.

Following the certificate presentation, learners participated in a tree-planting ceremony, where they planted a beautiful false olive tree in the school garden.

This indigenous tree stands as a symbol of Marist Brothers Linmeyer’s dedication to environmental sustainability and commitment to protecting South Africa’s diverse flora and fauna.
