Mondeor SAPS empowers parents at Safer School Programme

Community engagement takes centre stage as Mondeor SAPS partners with Meredale Primary School to equip parents with crucial safety strategies.

Mondeor SAPS conducted a safer school programme on February 28 at Meredale Primary School to engage parents in discussions about school safety, the Adopt A Cop initiative, and their vital role in securing their children’s educational environments.

Social Crime Prevention coordinator, Sergeant Elizabeth Mguni, said the parents gathered at Meredale Primary School. Insightful talks from various stakeholders involved in ensuring the safety of schools within the community were presented.

“One focal point was explaining the Adopt A Cop initiative, emphasising the collaboration between law enforcement and schools for a safer learning environment.

Social Crime Prevention coordinator, Sergeant Elizabeth Mnguni.

“We highlighted the importance of community involvement in maintaining school safety. The Naturena Community Forum, patrollers, sector manager, and Meredale School Governing Body provided valuable insights and expertise during the event,” said Mnguni.

Mnguni said they did not limit the informative sessions to general safety but delved into practical tips for parents to address specific challenges such as bullying, gangsterism, and bunking.

“Parents were equipped with strategies to identify and combat these issues, fostering a safer and more secure environment for their children. The collaboration and engagement yielded positive outcomes, with a notable reach of 450 parents,” said Mnguni.
