JMPD responds swiftly to alleged incident on M1

Johannesburg Metro Police Department takes immediate action following reports of an incident on the M1 North at the Crown Interchange.

The Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) has been alerted to an alleged incident of motorists being robbed at the Crown Interchange on the M1 on February 20.

According to Spokesperson of JMPD, Superintendent Xolani Fihla, the incident took place while motorists were queued in traffic.

“Upon receiving information about the incident, the JMPD Tactical Response Unit (TRU) was deployed to the area to search for the suspects involved. Despite extensive efforts, no suspects have been apprehended thus far. However, we reassure the public that efforts to locate and apprehend the individuals responsible will continue unabated.

“We urge any victims or witnesses of the alleged incident to come forward and report the matter immediately. Reporting such incidents is crucial for the proper investigation and prosecution of criminal activity, ensuring that perpetrators are held accountable for their actions.

“The safety and security of all residents and commuters in Johannesburg remain a top priority for the JMPD,” said Fihla.

Fihla also encourages members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behavior or activities to the authorities promptly.
