SADAG helps learners cope with the highs and lows of matric results

The South African Depression and Anxiety Group (SADAG) extends its unwavering support to help parents, caregivers, and matrics navigate through this important moment of the release of the matric results.

The South African Depression and Anxiety Group (SADAG) is offering assistance in coping with the highs and lows when matric results are released.

They will give tips on how to start those important conversations before the release of the results and share the available resources.

SADAG is hosting various online live events on Facebook, Instagram and TikTok this week to start the conversation.

The release of final matric results is on January 19.

“SADAG is hosting a Facebook Live Online on January 17 at 18:00. The live session will equip parents and caregivers with practical strategies on how to start the conversation before the results are released, how to talk about options with your child, how to help them navigate the different feelings over the next few days, managing the stress and anxiety, and navigating the post-results period,” SADAG stated.

Clinical psychologist Chris Kemp and Ferndale High School’s deputy principal and Grade 12 teacher Musa Chauke will join in on the live session.

If you are a concerned parent, caregiver or supporter of a student feeling anxious about the results, make sure not to miss the conversation.

Join the discussion through their Facebook Page and post your questions in the comment section for the panel to answer live.

“To help navigate the ups and downs and to create a safe space for matrics in the next few days, SADAG is hosting an Instagram Live on its Instagram Page to discuss the rollercoaster of emotions, how to cope, what resources and support services are available if you feel overwhelmed and need to talk, and different options available after the results have been released,” said SADAG.

This live session will be on January 18 at 13:00. The panel of guests will share resources, self-help tips, how to support a friend, and options available after the results. They will be answering your questions live.

On January 19, SADAG will also host two TikTok live sessions at 13:00 and again at 18:00 to help answer all the “What ifs” and “why” and share helpful resources, different options, tips on navigating the conversations and how to cope with the next steps.

Join them online on January 19. Their first live session will be at 13:00 and the second at 18:00. Post your questions while SADAG provides support, info and resources to help, and most importantly, a safe space to share and connect.
