DEMS shares crucial guidelines on how to call for help should an emergency arise.
DEMS spokesperson William Ntladi encouraged the community to provide detailed information and also stressed that the first thing callers should do is provide their contact details.
“Firstly, give your name and contact details should connection issues have an impact or cut off communication between you and the call centre. “
You should give the main reason why you need our services as we have different types of emergencies. Should there be a call about a fire, then the caller will need to provide in-depth information on what type of incident it is, that way we’ll know which resources we’ll need,” he explained.
He encouraged those contacting the emergency services to also provide their location and landmarks.
Ntladi urged the community to report emergencies on time by contacting their emergency number on 011 458 0911.
