Epic Foundation needs drawstring or fabric bags

The Epic Foundation needs drawstring or material shopping bags for the GBV survivors in their care.

Many individuals already have an abundance of these fabric shopping bags, and the foundation welcomes any donations from those willing to contribute.

“For those adept at sewing, we invite them to make bags for us. The ideal dimensions are about 40 X 36cm, featuring a ribbon as a string to pull the bag closed at the top.

“We also accept donations of fabric, cotton and ribbon as we have two volunteers who sew for us,” said Alta McMaster, the founder of the Epic Foundation.

Financial contributions are also appreciated. You can find options to donate on their website.

In addition to the bags, they constantly need essential items to include in the bags. The list of items they need is for adult and children’s packs.

Donations needed:

Bottled water, body lotion, colouring book and crayons, deodorant, hair comb or brush, elastics and clips, face cloth and soap, lip balm, plasters, sanitary towels, shampoo and conditioner, small notebook and pen, soft toys, sweets and chips, tissues, toothbrush and toothpaste, Vaseline, wet wipes (small packs), underwear (disposables from Dischem also accepted).

The foundation is an NPO established by McMaster in 2013. Having a profound understanding of the societal imperative to empower survivors, including women, children, and men, McMaster, herself a survivor of rape, founded the organisation.
