Local entrepreneur tantalises tastebuds with new coffee shop

An exciting new coffee shop has opened its doors at Glenzicht Retirement Village in Oakdene to residents and the community.

Residents at Glenzicht Retirement Village are excited to welcome Judy Moreland and Thyme Café and Catering as their brand-new coffee shop on the premises.

Thyme Café is also open to the public with secure parking and is conveniently located directly opposite Marist Brothers College in Linmeyer.

New Redruth’s Judy worked in Tanzania for over six years managing a staff lodge for an oil and gas company where she fell in love with the catering business.

“Upon my return to South Africa, I partnered to run the Netcafé at Netcare Clinton Hospital for the last four years. When Netcare and the Union hospital closed, I started looking for other opportunities. I soon heard about the available premises at Glenzicht,” explained Judy.

Thyme Café had its launch on March 31 for the Glenzicht residents only and opened to the public on April 1.

“In the short time Thyme Café had been open, we’ve hosted multiple events including ladies and gentlemen’s breakfasts, and a 90th and an 83rd birthday party. In the future I will also be hosting a nurses day for the Alberton Eye and Ear Clinic,” Judy said.
