Joburg South artist believes he is going to be big

Jon Delinger emphasised that he has big plans for next year and people should keep an eye on him.

John Jazz (35), also known as Jon Dellinger, considers music to be a sweet curse because he cannot live without it.

The versatile artist from Joburg South began singing in church, but his interest grew more in terms of what he was watching on television as he checked out country music and other genres, which gave him more exposure.

“Music found me. The moment I began making a good melody, I was already singing church hymns at the age of eight, and I was leading the choir.

“Without music, I would not be the person I am today. I don’t think I’d be where I am today,” said Delinger.

“I am signed to Open Mic Productions with top artists like Master KG, Mr Brown, Prince Benza, Zanda Zakuza, DJ Obza, Bongo Beats, and Mapara A Jazzz, to name a few,” added Delinger.

Delinger said that he is starting his own music production label, Chakalakker, and that he is collaborating with a couple of other artists from the south.

“I’ve realised that there are a lot of talented people who aren’t getting opportunities, so I’m trying to create something from this angle where I can tap into the art within where I’m staying. Looking at production from the perspective of producing other artists, this is why I appear to be doing everything.

“Yes, amapiano is everything right now, but let’s look into other genres as well,” he said.

Delinger emphasised that next year he is going to be big and fans should keep an eye on him.

“My advice to aspiring artists is that music must find you through passion because you cannot stop when someone tells you to. Invest in your grind because doing a good proper song will not cost you more than R2000, so why don’t you invest in one proper song? Invest in yourself so you don’t have to wait for a bigger label to come for you, and most importantly, do not give up.

“I’d like to thank my parents, who never imagined music would take me where I am today, and artists who helped me manoeuvre into this industry, as well as people who have been supporting me,” added Delinger.

Delinger is a family man who works as a computer programmer teacher. Brown is his favourite colour, and Naomi Campbell is his celebrity crush.

He would like to collaborate on music with Moonchld Sanelly, Ladydu, and Babes Wodumo.
