Booysens SAPS arrests over 100 suspects in two weeks

Booysens SAPS is on a mission to make Booysens a no-go area for crime.

Booysens SAPS arrested over 100 suspects between July 17 and 31, in and around the Booysens area.

Suspects were arrested for the following offences: one for armed robbery, six for common assault, three for assault to do grievous bodily harm, one for attempted murder, one for attempted rape, 10 for bribery, two for business robbery and one for contempt of court.

A further seven were arrested for contravention of the Liquor Act, 10 for drinking in public, six for drug-related crimes, 24 for drunken driving and two for failure to register a business.

Other arrests included ten for housebreaking and theft from business premises, 20 illegal immigrants, two for interfering with police duties, two for malicious injury to property, one for murder, one for pointing a firearm, two for possession of house-breaking implements, four for possession of suspected stolen goods, one for reckless and negligent driving, one for selling liquor without a license, two for shoplifting, one for theft and one for use of motor vehicle without owner’s consent.

The station commander, Brigadier Jones, thanked the SAPS members, other law enforcement agents and security companies for their involvement in the fight against crime.
