Man found guilty and sentenced to 12 years direct imprisonment

Justice prevailed with the help of all police members involved.

Following an assault and robbery on November 10, 2021, a man received a sentence of 12 years of direct imprisonment.

On the day in 2021, the complainant was walking alone along President Street in Turffontein when three unknown men approached him.

The three started to talk to him before being hit over his head from behind. One suspect searched him and took his belongings.

The complainant then started to fight, was able to break free, and ran to safety. He contacted the police and lodged a complaint.

The police later arrived and reported they had found his bag. While on the scene, the police members heard there was a call of suspects taken to the police station involved in another robbery.

The complainant went with the police to the station. Upon arrival, he identified the suspects as the ones that had robbed him.

The police searched one suspect and found the complainant’s possessions on his person. The police arrested this suspect.

They gave the docket to Sergeant Ntsako Mabunda to investigate.

On May 4, 2023, the suspect was found guilty and sentenced to 12 years of direct imprisonment.
