Final postponement on Gert Hitzeroth murder case

The magistrate has announced that this is the final postponement.

The two suspects accused of murdering Gert Hitzeroth in Mayberry Park on May 19 in 2018 reappeared in Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court on September 13.

The murder trial was supposed to continue, but it was postponed to September 27, November 2 and December 7 for further evidence and hearings.

It was explained to the court by the prosecutor that the deceased family no longer had confidence in him as they appointed a new prosecutor.

Because of circumstances, the newly assigned prosecutor was unable to appear in court but is prepared to take the case on the designated days.

Furthermore, the defence lawyer stated that the State was responsible for the delays in the case and he requested the magistrate to direct the State to act quickly.

“The defence is ready, as have we been,” he said.

Even though there are four witnesses in this case, only three appeared on September 13.

A warrant of arrest has been issued for one of the witnesses who has failed to appear in court a couple of times. According to the magistrate, this is the final postponement.
