Eden Park NGO reopens its doors to help the needy

Local NGO reopens its doors to feed the needy

Lethukukhanya hosted its reopening on October 27.

The organisation had to close its doors because of challenges encountered. However, it reopens with hopes that this time around it will fulfil its mission of helping the many people who are in need.

The organisation, located in Eden Park, helps the elderly, orphans and disabled by providing them with breakfast and lunch through a programme called Lunch On Club. They also provide bread every Friday to the community.

Lethukukhanya was founded in 2016 by Rantsoaki Elzabeth Snyders. It has been registered since September 11, 2019, and its management includes organisation manager Elrico King, administrator Hans Vry, driver Anthoney Theron, chef Pinki Kgosiejong and cleaner Minah Selai.

Snyders founded the organisation to help those who cannot help themselves by providing them with food and taking the elderly to healthcare facilities.

The community members also enjoy workouts, sports, agriculture and sewing. They are occasionally sponsored by Shoprite and receive bread from the Old Apostolic Church weekly.

“The reopening was successful and we are excited to see what the future holds for the organisation as we want to continue seeing the needy being fed, the disabled being cared for, the orphans being looked after and the elderly being helped with their basic needs,” said Snyders.

Lethukukhanya has struggled in the past to keep its doors open and needs assistance.

“We are pleading with any member of the public who can find it in their hearts to help us to keep helping those in need. Your help will be highly appreciated,” expressed the Lethukukhaya management.

They also need transport to assist the elderly to pension pay points and health facilities.
