Little ones celebrate respect, diversity and inclusion
The halls of Junior Colleges Castillian were buzzing with excitement as learners and teachers celebrated Holistic Week, a week-long event promoting respect, diversity, and inclusion.
The event focused on nurturing the five key developmental areas of cognitive, physical, social, speech and drama, and sensory integration.
For social development, each class represented a different country. From the vibrant colours of India to the traditions of South Africa and the flavours of Mexico, learners and teachers embraced the opportunity to explore the world’s cultures.
They transformed the school’s corridors into mini global villages adorned with decorations from each country, including flags, art, and cultural artefacts.
Holistic Week didn’t just stop at visual and intellectual exploration. It also tantalised the taste buds of learners and parents with a spectacular International Food Fair.
Students and their families had the chance to savour delicious dishes from around the world. The diverse menu included dishes such as tacos, samosas, and milk tart, offering a culinary world tour.
Holistic Week has been a testament to the unity and inclusivity that define Junior Colleges Castillian’s values where learners and staff came together to learn about and appreciate the diverse world we are living in.
As the week ended, the echoes of laughter, the aroma of international cuisine, and the colourful decorations served as a reminder that embracing diversity and fostering respect and inclusion are not just ideals but essential principles that shape the future of our society.
