Freestyle and poetry competition for youth in Joburg South

More interventions will be discussed on the day of the competition.

ANC Zone 11 is organising a freestyle and poetry competition to be held at Mthunzini Car Wash, 270 Turf Road, La Rochelle on June 24. There will be different tokens of awards for winners.

Branch secretary Simphiwe Hlafa said this is in recognition of the indelible role played by the artists in the struggle for socio-economic transformation and in influencing communities broadly, especially through youth.

“The ANC Zone 11 is committed to playing its part towards the development of the up-and-coming local artists.

“We are working on several economic intervention programmes involving youth. The primary objective thereof is to arrest these societal ills that have imprisoned young people in our communities such as drugs and crime.

Tackling unemployment among young people by partnering with all spheres of government and the private sector is our apex priority.

“We will announce some of those interventions on the day of the competition. We want all hands on deck to collaboratively change the status quo. All young people in Johannesburg South should not miss the event. It is a fare-free event,” he said.

Those who have interest to participate should call Jimmy Ntuli on 062 149 0909.
