City Power attending to power outages in South

City Power apologises for the inconvenience caused.

Multiple cable faults caused power outages in the south of Johannesburg, some residents haven’t had power for three days.

At the Moffat substation (parts of Moffat, Elandspark, Electron, Steeledale, Unigray, South Hills and Tulisa Park), the process of pumping out water in the tunnel has recommenced and is underway.

The first part of cable jointing has also commenced. City Power said the estimated time of restoration will be communicated once the water has been fully drained.

At the Wemmer substation (Moffat View, Roseacre Ext 3 and 4, Roseacre, Roseacre Ext and City Deep), 83% of power has been restored and 14 load centres will remain off until all repairs are completed.

A testing branch has been requested to locate the fault to complete the remaining 17%.

The estimated time of restoration will be communicated once the fault has been located.
