Taxi rollover poses a threat to sixteen lives on R59

Sixteen occupants were injured after their taxi rolled on R59 near the Reading Interchange in Alberton on October 16.

The cab was in the emergency lane when ER24 and other personnel arrived at 17:48. Along the roadside, several people were sitting.

ER24 communications officer, Russel Meiring, said that 16 individuals were found to have slight to serious injuries when medical professionals examined the patients. Thankfully, there were no fatalities.

“The patients were treated and the seriously injured were provided pain-relief medication before being transported to nearby hospitals for urgent care,” said Meiring.

Local law enforcement arrived to conduct more investigations.
