Desiree and Lungile Ndebele appeared in the Johannesburg Central Magistrate’s Court on August 17.
This follows Ryan Mutinzi’s (6) discarded body being discovered in Bellavista. Members of the Booysens Serious and Violent Unit arrested the two on April 27.
Medical records brought before the court indicated that the child’s dehydration, poor dental hygiene and malnutrition contributed to his death.
The medical study also revealed that a dangerous chemical substance was administered to the deceased’s body, resulting in burns and other skin injuries.
The matter was postponed to September 7 and they will continue to be detained.
The matter has reached a roll for disclosure, however, prosecutors are looking into the matter until the next court date.
