Alberton residents help those in need

After a successful market day Riana Nel hosted, she and other four residents donated winter clothes to the homeless to keep them warm.

Five Alberton residents took to the streets of Alberton on July 21 to help make a difference in the lives of the homeless.

As part of a charity campaign, Ms World finalist 2022 Desiree Oliphant, in partnership with Hester Coward and Gail Abel from Rotary Anns in Germiston, and Riana Nel gave much-needed donations to the needy in Alberton.

As a proud resident of Alberton, Desiree emphasised that it is important for her and the community to make a tangible difference and an impact in the community by at least providing the basic needs to the vulnerable.

Socks, morning slippers, beanies, blankets, towels and soaps were donated to the less fortunate in the greater Alberton community.

“We saw the need to donate these to our people because of the season we are currently in. We know such donations help by keeping the homeless warm,” Desiree said.

President of Rotary Anns Gail Abel expressed her gratitude as well by thanking all who were involved by donating to those in need so that the world becomes a better place.

“It is effectively helping people in need and it can improve our own wellbeing,” Gail said.

Riana Nel thanked Rotary Anns, Desiree and the Alberton Record for their continuous support of the community.

“Many people are going without electricity, blankets, coats, socks, even towels. Love your community and help your fellow humans,” Riana concluded.
