Dada becomes the new councillor of the City of Johannesburg.

The swearing-in ceremony took place in the speaker’s executive boardroom. Da Gama welcomed the guests, who included Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi and the newly elected ANC provincial chairperson.

The city was represented by the chief whip of council, Tyrell Myers and the chair of chairs, Colleen Makhubele.
The newly appointed PR councillor had several guests in attendance. Sasabona Mangeni, the ANC secretary of the region and his deputy Simon Mota were joined by the leader of the opposition, Eunice Mgcina, the whip of the opposition Brenda Dummie as well as Mongameli Mnyameni.

Two ANC REC members, Tania Oldjohn and Mapule Sambu, and ANC member Stan Itshegetseng made up the full complement of guests.

All incoming councillors must swear an oath to God or an affirmation to the Republic of South Africa before a judicial officer or the speaker of council as required by Rule 10 (2) of the Standing Rules and Orders of the City of Johannesburg.

Once the documents had been signed, the speaker made a short announcement welcoming the new councillor to the council. He indicated that the Standing Rules and Orders of the city is a document that guides all councillors, members of the public and the media about how the systems of council work both in and out of the council chamber.
