Alberton Reformed Church celebrates Nostalgia Fair in style

Alberton business owners gathered in large numbers at the Jackson Dam to share their businesses visions and missions to the community of Alberton.

The Alberton Reformed Church (Gereformeerde Kerk) hosted the Nostalgia Fair at Jackson Dam in Alberton.

The exhibition was held to raise funds for the church and to promote small businesses.

Visitors were treated to a wide range of stalls selling artwork, jewellery, tools, second-hand clothing, and baby clothes.

Host and member of the church, Ona Fourie, said as a public benefit organisation they have to raise funds to keep their church going. Funds generated at the exhibition have helped massively because they managed to cater for some needs.

“It also inspired the members of our church to work together for a common goal and it fostered a spirit of cooperation that was heartwarming to experience,” said Fourie.

The church itself featured several vendors that offered classic South African food such as boerewors rolls, sandwiches, pancakes, curry and rice.

Mohammad Dawjee said that he along with his business partners attended the initiative because they wanted to promote their business and create awareness for their store in Alberton.

“We managed to tell quite a few people about the store and some of them even came back to buy from us,” said Dawjee.

“Our aim is for the fair to continue bringing people together in a culture of cooperation and mutual respect,” Fourie concluded.
