The Jungle Book is about a young boy named Mowgli and his host of animal friends in the jungle. This story has been a hit with children since it was published in 1893

The Peoples Theatre production features a delightful cast of professional actors and talented children who will magically weave their way through the jungle capturing the imagination of every child in the audience while allowing them to participate in the action of this much-loved favourite.

Come and meet all of Mowgli’s unforgettable friends in this colourful production, sing and dance along to the instantly recognizable hits, while Mowgli learns valuable life lessons on his journey to the Man Village, where he belongs.

Baloo will be played by one of Peoples Theatre’s favourite performers, Luciano Zuppa, Baloo is an easygoing and fun-loving character who shirks at responsibility.

He is a sleepy old bear who teaches Mowgli the law of the jungle and is well known for his song The Bare Necessities during their adventure through the jungle.

Baloo eventually realises that the man village is the best place for Mowgli. Bagheera is Mowgli’s mentor and protector and is tasked with getting Mowgli to the man village, but he is met with many obstacles along the way, Bagheera will be played by the wonderful Yamikani Mahaka-Phiri, who was recently seen in Beneath African Skies.

This is Micah’s debut show at Peoples Theatre but he is recognisable from the various productions he appeared in while studying at Stageworx School of Performing Arts.

“Having produced critically-acclaimed children’s theatre for over 30 years, with sold-out successes such as Disney’s Alice in Wonderland, Beauty and the Beast, Shrek and Seussical to mention but a few, Peoples Theatre was facing imminent closure when a partnership with the Joburg Theatre was created to produce this fabulous show.

“Together with the generosity of private sponsors, Collett Dawson, Sandy Dyer Richardson, Sean McGrath and Title Card Productions, we are back on stage,” Girard concluded.
