Alberton High’s netball touring squad returns home

After hoisting the school flag, Alberton High School’s netball squad recently returned back home safely.

Alberton High School’s netball touring squad returned home proudly after attending the prestigious Waterkloof netball tournament in Pretoria, attaining well-deserved results.

The school’s netball touring squad participated in the prominent Klofie Netbalfees in the company of other high-performing netball schools from around the country.

According to Amber Norton of Alberton High, the group of girls commenced the tournament with a win against Hoërskool Ben Viljoen.

“They continued to play with their heads held high with a positive mentality, attaining some more wins against Hoërskool Brandwag and Gelofte Skool. They almost took the win against Hoërskool Upington,” she said.

Throughout the tournament, Norton said the squad met some tough competition, one of them being Paarl Girls’ High School.

“Despite our girls being one of the smaller teams in physical size and appearance, leading to them being underestimated by other teams, it did not stop them from playing their game. They followed through with the right mindset while having their coach motivating them,” said Norton.

The squad also went against Hoërskool Sentraal and Hoërskool Wesvalia.

Rebecca Martin of Alberton High reiterated the girls gave these games a good fight.

“Our girls proved not only to Wesvalia but, more importantly, to themselves that they do have it within them, with each player working for the girl next to her and playing to no less but her full potential. Our girls achieved so much in such a short period of time,” she said.

Martin told the RECORD playing in the Klofie Netbalfees was an experience like no other and it had taught the team many things.
