Health fanatics hit Thaba Trails

Locals were thrilled to join many in taking part in the Thaba Eco-Challenge over the weekend.

Locals joined in on the Thaba Eco-Challenge, a family-fun charity at Thaba Trails on March 27.

The challenge, which aims to become an annual highlight in the South of Johannesburg, attended by both young and old, was in aid of local charities.

The sporting event comprised of mountain biking, a trail run and walks, hosted by SOJO and powered by Balwin Properties and Group 1 Nissan The Glen.

The community came together for an incredible walk or run and MTB Challenge at the breathtaking Thaba Trails. The course was technical but participants loved the trails.

It was an incredible day with a market and amazing foods in the world.

The winners of the Thaba Eco Challenge walked away with incredible prizes from Thaba Eco Hotel which included overnight stays for the winners and Restaurant vouchers for the runners up.

They also walked away with Del Forno Lemon Tree meal vouchers, Gold reef city vouchers, Uvex South Africa cycling protective eyewear, Gi-GO energy shakes, Balwin property items, and Mobi-Med IV drip vouchers and bags from Group 1 Nissan The Glen.

The winner of the five km run was Benda Swart.

She took home goodie bags sponsored by Group 1 Nissan The Glen, Balwin Properties, Versus Paint & Microdx food grade sanitiser and Optimized Supplements vouchers.

Tandi Potgieter of Icarus Media, who was involved in the event’s organisation, said: “On the day we developed some amazing new trails. There was a 5km and 10km trail and a 15km biking trail on a lap system. We were excited about the event and it was declared a success. There were also prizes up for grabs.”
