Booysens SAPS arrests three suspects for rape

The suspects' cellphones have also been confiscated to assist with further investigations.

Three suspects were arrested for rape reported in August. They were arrested by Booysens SAPS on December 15.

On August 30 at around 12:30, the complainant (the victim’s colleague) called the victim to the staff room together with the district office. The complainant had notice that there was something wrong with the victim.

The complainant asked the victim what was bothering her and the victim explained that the lady with whom she is staying is allegedly selling her to older men.

The victim said the woman told her that she was beautiful and could make money and when older men called, she must not refuse because they would give her money. The victim said that this person would buy her alcohol and when she was drunk, the lady would call an Uber and they would take her to men’s places who would sleep with her in exchange for money.

The complainant was with the victim when they opened a case of rape at Booysens SAPS.

Booysens SAPS communication officer Capt Lorraine van Emmerik said once the docket had been open, the matter was investigated and evidence and other relevant information was obtained.

“Members held observation on the premises mentioned by the complainant and finally on December 15, three suspects were arrested and detained at Booysens SAPS. The suspects’ cellphones have also been confiscated to assist with further investigations.

“The management would like to thank everyone involved with the investigation and in making the arrest. Booysens SAPS is serious when fighting crime and when we work together as a team with the community, we are able to bring criminals to justice,” she said.
