Epic cycle race from JHB to Cape Town

The Vouks Foundation embarked on an epic cycle race from Johannesburg to Cape Town in October to raise funds to identify and help local dance and breaking talent in several communities.

Red Bull BC One judge and hip-hop icon, Vouks, will be making the monumental cycle over several days across the country that started in late September.

The Vouks Foundation was created to bring change and opportunities to communities that are in need as well as uplifting and inspiring the current and future youth of South Africa to become better, active and conscious citizens.

The foundation will focus on schooling and family structures to assist in creating healthier home environments for young talent to thrive and potentially represent South Africa on the world stage.

Funds raised from the cycle event will be invested in hosting workshops and boot camps for young talent in their communities, preparing them for the future.

The foundation also aims to use these funds to assist dancers to travel locally and internationally in the build-up to qualify for the Olympic Games in 2024 in the new breaking category.

The cycle started on September 28 in Johannesburg and will end on October 5 in Cape Town with the final stop being the Radisson Red at the V&A Waterfront.

Averaging about 160km to 250km a day on a bicycle is no easy feat for an athlete that has primarily been a dancer their whole life. Vouks has been training hard for to the challenge on the bicycle supplied by Specialised Bicycles Africa.

The event aims to help communities in Oudtshoorn, Ocean View, East London, Gqeberha, Georgia, Eldorado Park, Soweto, Mitchell’s Plain and more. For more information, visit www.redbull.com
