Fraud and theft charges withdrawn against Deon Pillay

Pillay was granted bail of R50 000 following his appearance in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court on August 25, 2020.

A criminal charge against businessman Deon Pillay who allegedly defrauded the City of Johannesburg of more than R7-million has been withdrawn.

Deon Pillay, the director of Esizwe Technology (Pty), appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court this Friday morning on August 27

He was granted bail of R50 000 following his appearance at Court on August 25, 2020.

According to Lucky Sindane, spokesperson of the City’s Group Forensic and Investigation Services, in 2014 the City of Johannesburg procured 570 desktops from Pillay’s company and he failed to deliver them, although he was paid R8.5-million.
