A victim is recovering and a suspect has been hospitalised following a shooting at a local restaurant in Mulbarton last night.

This comes after two bystanders, who were patrons at a restaurant were injured after being struck by stray bullets during an altercation that ensued between the suspect and a woman seated at the table.

According to Mondeor Community Policing Forum chairperson, Mike Fontes the suspect has been hospitalised at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital with several injuries.

“He got injured when the people at the restaurant disarmed him,” he said.

Fontes added that one of the victims that was shot in the back and transported by paramedics to a nearby hospital for further medical attention is recovering well after sustaining minor injuries.

“The lady that got shot last night is okay. The bullet did not hit any organs, she went in this morning to get stitched up.”

An update will follow as soon as more information becomes avilable.
