Two hit by stray bullets during an altercation at Mulbarton restaurant

The victims sustained gunshot wounds and the other was transported to a nearby hospital.

Two innocent bystanders, who were patrons at a restaurant were injured after being struck by stray bullets during an altercation between a man and woman.

The incident took place at a local restaurant in Mulbarton last night, July 30  at about 18:30.

It is believed that a local man joined a table at the restaurant where he argued with a woman seated at the table. 

According to Mondeor CPF, the two are known to each other.

“The man then tried to shoot the woman but missed his target, hitting an innocent bystander who was dining at the restaurant with his gunshot in the back and another bystander had her arm grazed by a bullet, the latter sustaining minor injuries,” said Mondeor CPF in a statement. 

The first victim received emergency first aid at the scene by CPF members and Fox Security and was transported by paramedics to a nearby hospital for further medical attention. 

Mondoer CPF members and Fox Security responded immediately and the suspect was arrested and handed over to Mondeor SAPS.

Drugs were found in the suspect’s vehicle. 

“A suspect was arrested and is charged for attempted murder,” said Captain Dube, Mondeor SAPS communications officer.
