Learn more about GBV through book

Vee Rox (54) from Steeledale launched her first book, Evil Beside Me, on March 27 in Richmond.

The book is based on true events and is inspirational towards men and women. It speaks out to people on a level of gender-based violence (GBV) that people wouldn’t believe that happened.

She told the story of Nerrissa van Wyk who was born into a world segregated by colour; she lived her life as best she could with the knowledge she had.

Abandoned by her mother at age six, Nerrissa survived the harshness this world had to offer. Until her life was turned upside down by one man. Everything she knew and loved was ripped away from her within seconds.

“Due to the nature of this book, most of the characters’ identities have been changed for their protection. This story deals with drugs, abuse and murder,” she said.

Remember, if you are a victim of GBV contact the emergency line on 0800 428 428.
