A big achievement for Elite Defence Academy Johannesburg South

Dominique said that while others learn to fight for trophies and medals, they learn to fight for their lives.

Students from Elite Defence Academy Johannesburg South recently passed their yellow belt grading under the leadership of Krav Maga instructor, Dominique Olfsen.

According to her, grading is a test of your ability to perform your Krav Maga techniques under pressure.

“The children’s grading is age-appropriate and is all about building their confidence in their ability to perform the techniques,” she explained.

“Their yellow belt is the first belt that they grade for and so many don’t even get to this point before they quit or simply don’t have the confidence. So it is a wonderful achievement for all.”

The adults successfully completed the yellow belt grading. They are Lourens Maarschalk,
Justin Beswick, Jessica Aarde and Zandile Solani.

Dominique said that the adult grading is intense but level appropriate.

“It tests your ability to perform techniques under pressure and it tests your mental ability to withstand pressure, pushes you to push yourself, not to quit and to finish strong at the end.”

“While others will learn to fight for trophies and medals, we learn to fight for our lives. It is the most empowering thing you’ll ever do,” she said.
