Saving her baby’s life is as true a wish as any mother can make. Jenny’s wish, a wish made by a pregnant mom whose baby was at risk, was heard loud and clear by the team at Hot 91.9FM who made her wish come true.
This wish ensured that a bundle of joy brought to light, love, and laughter to the year 2021. And we popped around to hear their story and to find out how the little one is doing.
On December 9, 2020, Hot 91.9Fm received an urgent Christmas Wish for Jenny, who was 38 weeks pregnant and had extremely low amniotic fluid and the baby’s movement was minimal.
An emergency C-Section was required to give the little one, and mom, a fighting chance. Jenny was already high risk with her age, Lupus SLE and chronic cardiac failure and needed a hospital and medical practitioners who could deal with life-threatening situations.
However, the family didn’t have the R45 000 required for the emergency procedure.
The Hot 91.9FM Christmas Wish is an annual initiative that takes place every December to make a meaningful difference and touch lives within our community.
Each year, the station calls on corporates and donors to assist with granting the selected wishes and the team at Gold Reef City is always ready and willing to come on board. Hot 91.9FM knew they could count on their friends at Gold Reef City to assist, and the call was made.
Feron Somiah, the marketing manager at Gold Reef City, said: “We knew we had to help Jenny to ensure the safe delivery of their precious baby and took the decision to take care of all their medical costs, including hospital, obstetrician, gynaecologist, anaesthetist costs, along with a paediatrician for all post-partum care.”
Within three days of receiving the wish, the admission was arranged, Covid-19 tests were done and finally at 2pm on December 12, Jenny gave birth to a healthy, strapping baby boy weighing 3kg.
For the station and the popular entertainment destination, Christmas Wish granted another opportunity for Hot 91.9FM and Gold Reef City to make a meaningful difference in the community.
Jenny said, “Baby is doing very well and has achieved all his milestones. Despite our financial crisis, angels came across our path in the most unexpected way. We cannot thank everyone involved enough. We are still dumbstruck with disbelief.”
