Nhlanhla Cindi’s wish come true

This year I decided to donate clothes and toys instead of getting gifts.

Nhlanhla Cindi (15) from Ormonde View surprised his parents when he told them he was not interested in having a gift for his birthday.

He told his father that his birthday wish was to help children who are less fortunate with clothes and toys.
This Hoërskool President High School learner not only impressed his father with his idea but also got the endorsement of his school and Winchester Ridge Primary School.

His dream to achieve his goal became a reality on December 11, 2020, when he went to donate his choice to the children.

“This year I decided to donate clothes and toys instead of getting gifts. I have brought gifts to Nkosi Haven to give to the children.

“With all the gifts I would like to thank my family, friends and school for supporting me to make my wish come true. I would not be where I am if it was not for them and their assistance,” he said.

Founder of Nkosi Haven Nkosi Haven Gail Johnson was also delighted by the gesture and thanked Nhlanhla for his kind generosity.

“After I received a call from Nhlanhla I was excited. Children of his age normally want gifts for their birthdays. But with young Nhlanhla it is different because all he wanted was to celebrate his birthday by giving back.
“His parents are doing a fantastic job raising him and they must keep it up,” she said.

To thank Nhlanhla, Nkosi Haven issued a thank you certificate for him and was told he is welcome anytime to visit the home.
