Withley Smith (19) from South Hills, great aspirations for a teen

By her own admission, she said she likes looking good.

She is a model and wants to be a great inspiration to her peers.

Withley Smith (19) from South Hills has been doing beauty pageants for two years. She said it has been hectic for the last two years, participating in various pageants.

In 2018 she was the first princess in Miss Diversity School and she won it the following year. She is a finalist in several pageants, including Face of Devotion, Mr and Miss South Africa and she is in line for Public Choice award in it.

By her own admission, she said she likes looking good.

“I always strive to look great. I also like to inspire people who want to follow what I’m doing. I always tell them they need to be happy in life, not just to put on the face on stage. “Do not dream about success, rather work for it. I also want to use this platform as a stepping stone to inspire women and get rid of the drug problem in my area.

“I finished school last year and I’m on my journey to study human resource management in order to empower myself,” explained Withley.

Ward 57 councillor Faeeza Chame said she is willing to help her in her journey, especially to organise campaigns to help women and youth in the area.

“We need to get the message out there. We will organise women’s events and promote positivity in the area. I am prepared to help her so the youth can follow in her footsteps.

“I am proud of her. I was also a model in my younger years and I know it is hard work. She must study to empower herself and strive to achieve the best,” she said.
