Women of Worth shine a spotlight on GBV

An intimate lunch was hosted by Life Grand Café at Mall of the South this Women’s Day with a select few Women of Worth attending to celebrate the achievements of women and to also highlight gender-based violence (GBV).

Enolicia Strever, Mrs. South Africa runner-up 2019 and IT executive, spoke passionately against gender-based violence and her support of Women For Change SA.

She shared her personal story and how she overcame obstacles to be the success she is today.

Tandi Potgieter, MC for the event, added: “Gender-based violence has tragically escalated during this pandemic and we are here today to highlight this issue. It is so important that we as women all add our voices so that we can roar. This must stop.”

Dimanzi Perfumes added a little magic to the event.

Di Thompson took the guests on a journey of the senses with an explanation of how the award-winning dimanzi eau de parfum, SA’s first fine fragrance, was created. “It is French chic with an African spirit,” Di enthused.

Guests experienced an ‘Oprah moment’ when they were all asked to look under their plates, with three lucky guests discovering the dimanzi token, thus walking away with a dimanzi perfume, including the new diMANzi for men, which was launched in June.

“It is so important for me to add my support against GBV,” Di explained.

“We need to stand up for those who can’t and be their voice.”

Guests were treated to a fabulous array of canapes and deserts by the talented Ki-Ki Esmany and the Life Grand Café team. Exquisite edible rose petals by Crystal Candy adorned the desert platters.

Stunning floral arrangements, by Blooming Mad Designs, brought an elegant touch to the table and the perfect backdrop to the lunch.

In light of the current restrictions, only a select few attended this intimate lunch and all safety protocols were adhered to.

The Women For Change movement stands against gender-based violence. It was founded by Catch Me If You Can – South Africa’s largest all-women running community.
