Stepping Stone Hospice: Where there is a will there is a way

While there is still uncertainty about whether the annual 947 Cycle Challenge will take place this year, one of Stepping Stone Hospice’s regular charity team cyclists, Megan Tandy, silently went about trying to raise funds for her beloved charity.
“It was really bothering me how Covid-19 has effected sporting events, actually everything, and it made me really sad to think funds won’t be raised for charities because races like 947 possibly won’t take place. “So when the Compass Insurance Company launched their Mandela Day Photo Challenge, I decided to give it my 110 per cent to make sure Stepping Stone Hospice can benefit,” explained Megan.
The winner of the Photo Challenge was able to choose a charity to whom the prize money of R15 000 would be donated. And, of course, Megan submitted a winning entry and the rest, as they say, is history.
Compass Insurance Company also, as requested by Megan, donated seven beautiful rose bushes to now be planted in the Hospice gardens. And to add some cherries on the top, they donated two comment books that will be left in the family room for people to pin down their experiences as a member of the Hospice family.
“Thank you Compass for choosing me and a charity that is so close to my heart. It takes a special kind of person to do what the staff does at Stepping Stone. The care, love and support they offer, not only to the patient, but to the patients’ loved ones, is absolutely amazing,” a delighted Megan said.
Hospice CEO Tersia Burger commended Megan for her dedication to Stepping Stone Hospice.
