Kidnapped and hijacked in Glenvista

When they drove away from the shopping centre the victim was told to stay on the backseat with his head on his lap.

On May 5, at about 6.30 pm a man was driving from Rand Water on Klipriver Road and as he was about to turn into Bellairs Road, he was blocked by another vehicle.

The black vehicle, who blocked the man from the front, had no registration plates. Suspects got out of the vehicle and pointed firearms at the victim.

They forced him back into the vehicle, got inside and made him drive to Glenvista Shopping Centre. The suspects said they wanted the vehicle and money.

When they arrived at the centre they wanted to force the victim to draw money from the ATM, but could not get into the centre since it was closed and security would not let them through.

The suspects got back into the vehicle and told the victim to stay on the backseat with his head on his lap. They then took his cellphone and threw it out of the window upon which they demanded his bank cards and pin codes.

The victim was later dropped off at a garage on the N1. No arrests have yet been made and police is investigating.
