Silwerkroon senior lends a hand to Amcare

Silwerkroon senior, Rosa Viviers, generously donated 200 of her self-made face masks to Amcare, which were received by Alberton Lions on April 16.

This follows the 73-year-old’s initiative she took to make free masks for the Alberton community, as a means to help curb the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Out of passion, she then decided to donate her masks to Amcare, who are part of the Alberton HELP Forum.

The organisations belonging to HELP Forum have worked tirelessly in unity to make a difference in the Alberton community for those in need.

Rosa said her face masks vary according to the unique colours that she designs and that they are also washable and safe to wear.

She told the RECORD that she makes about 50 to 80 face masks in a day.

Tammy du Plooy of Alberton Lions thanked Rosa for her generous donations, which she said will go a long way in helping others.

“I would like to extend a big thank you to Rosa for her support and donation. Increased service through networking has made it possible to reach more and make a difference together,” she said.

Rosa also extended her thanks to the community for their support she received in helping her continue with her good deeds.

“Thank you to all the people who supported me during this lockdown period. People pampered me with goodies to eat while I make masks and I’ve made lots of new friends and new sponsors through my lockdown story. I also thank SOG security for volunteering to help with pickups and deliveries,” she said.

She appealed to the community for donations with cotton and elastic.
