Security guard behind bars for attempted murder

A male security guard was arrested for attempted murder by the Johannesburg Central Police.

The 45-year-old security guard handed himself over to the police with his firearm that was confiscated.

It is alleged that the suspect shot a 32-year-old man in the lower body at corner Du Toit and Lilian Ngoyi Street on April 4.

The victim was sleeping on the street with his friends when they were woken up by the security guard driving a company vehicle.

They had an argument and the security guard fired one shot.

The victim was taken to the hospital, where he was treated and discharged.

An investigation is underway and the suspect will appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on April 9.
